The 2024 Award Nominations Have Been Closed. Award Winners Will be Honored at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
NYWEA members are eligible to receive special recognition for professional achievements in the field of water quality and for individual service to the Association on a local, state or national level. Awards are presented at the annual meeting in February, or at the local chapters throughout the year. Please take the time to recognize a deserving colleague or student. Lists of past recipients and a copy of the complete 2024 Nominations Book follow the award categories.
We have separated the awards into four categories to help you locate the appropriate accolade:
Association Service Awards—given for leadership, government affairs, young professional and student achievements, and to a sales rep who has made a significant contribution to NYWEA. There is also a Hall of Fame award for extraordinary, long-term contribution to the Association.

Awards for Municipalities, Industries, Elected Officials and Sustainability—Given to municipalities, companies, and individuals for excellence in environmental science, sustainability and/or the water sector.

Public Education and Outreach Awards—presented for promotion of water environment issues, contribution to water quality, technical papers and humanitarian efforts.

Wastewater Facility Operations and Safety Awards—The facility operations awards are given to individuals and municipal or public collection systems. Safety awards recognize an individual, collection system and wastewater facility.

Honorary Society Awards (Not Part of Nominations Portal)
Golden Manhole Society Award—Nomination to this society recognizes collection system personnel who contribute in outstanding measure to the operation and maintenance of sanitary, storm and combined sewer systems.
