The chapter orchestrates programs, events, and opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley area of New York State, including Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess counties.

Background

The New York Water Environment Association, Inc. (NYWEA) was founded in 1929, by professionals in the field of water quality as a non-profit, educational organization. Association members helped lead the way toward existing state and national clean water programs. Today the Association has over 2,500 members representing diverse backgrounds and specialties, but all are concerned and involved with protecting and enhancing our precious water resources.  NYWEA’s Lower Hudson Chapter is one of seven chapters in New York State.

NYWEA will serve the best interest of the public by promoting sustainable clean water quality management through science, education and training.

​NYWEA will advance the professional well being of our membership, provide opportunities to expand their knowledge and capabilities and cultivate a forum to enable them to play a vital role in shaping an environmental sound future.

Our Members

Members include civil, design and environmental engineers; biologists, chemists, local and state government officials, treatment plant managers and operators, laboratory technicians, students, professors, lawyers, environmental scientists, equipment manufacturers and distributors. The Association has seven local chapters which meet regularly, elect chapter officers and conduct technical as well as social programs. 

The Lower Hudson Chapter includes Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster and Dutchess Counties.​
