The New York Water Environment Association, Inc. (NYWEA) consists of seven local chapters representing the various geographic regions across the State: the Capital, Central, Western, Lower Hudson, Long Island, Metropolitan, and The Genesee Valley Chapter covers Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, Wayne, Seneca, Yates, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung and Orleans counties.
NYWEA was founded in 1929 by professionals in the field of water quality as a non-profit, educational organization focused on protecting and enhancing our water resources.
Members include civil and environmental engineers, biologists, chemists, local and state government officials, treatment plant managers and operators, laboratory technicians, students, professors, lawyers, environmental scientists, equipment manufacturers and distributors.
NYWEA is a Member Association of the International Water Environment Federation, which is comprised of 64 member associations (19 of which are international), 6 recognized operator associations, and affiliation with 3 additional corresponding international organizations. NYWEA is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
