This position involves responsibility on an assigned shift for the efficient operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant employing the activated sludge process. This position differs from a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in that the position directly assists the Chief Operator in plant operations and assumes responsibility for plant operations in the absence of the Chief Operator. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or a plant administrator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Attendants. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must have a Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at the time of appointment.
RATE OF PAY: $33.21/hour plus excellent benefits
