Statement of Duties:
The selected candidate will be a member of a self-directed work team responsible for the development and implementation of Delaware County's Streamside Assistance Program with the New York City Watershed Stream Corridor Management Program. Candidates for this position must have a minimum of 2 years of practical experience in fluvial geomorphic stream management principles and practices, and/or riparian buffer/wetland protection programs. Public speaking and demonstrated ability to coordinate public outreach effort preferred. GIS experience beneficial.

The selected candidate will be required to present the program to landowners and stakeholder groups, prepare individual landowner stream management plans, provide technical assistance to landowners, and participate with the New York City Watershed Riparian Buffer Working Group.

Starting Salary and Benefits:

Minimum Requirements:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or closely related studies and 2 years of closely related professional level work experience.

B) A valid NYS Driver's License required.

C) Civil Service exam required following provisional appointment.

    Administrative Engineer/Director - NYCDEP

    Job Description:
    Under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner of Engineering, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, the three (3) Directors of Planning, Design and Construction are responsible for the management of engineering planning, design and construction activities related to in-City and upstate water and wastewater projects. The selected candidate will direct up to five (5) Chiefs whose consultants and in-house staff advance various projects through the planning, design and construction phases. Current projects throughout the program include: Newtown Creek plant upgrade, Water Tunnel III, Manhattan Tunnel; Croton Water Filtration Plant; Biological Nitrogen Removal (BNR) program at upper East River and 26th Ward wastewater pollution control plants; other wastewater pollution control plant upgrades; watershed treatment plants, dams, roads, bridges and other facilities; reconstruction of New Croton Aqueduct; Catskill Delaware ultraviolet light disinfection facility; CSO abatement facilities; wastewater pumping stations upgrades; and Kensico-City Tunnel. Candidate will collaborate with other Directors and Division Chiefs to ensure project continuity cradle-to-grave, identify critical issues and implement solutions in consideration of defined scopes, costs and schedules.

    Preferred Skills:
    1. Managerial training and/or extensive management experience, including conflict resolution.
    2. Extensive technical experience and expertise in engineering disciplines
    3. Excellent oral and written communication skills toward a technical and non-technical audience.
    4. Knowledge of City, State, and Federal environmental requirements for water, wastewater and hazardous materials.

    Number of Positions:3
    Salary: Up to $140,000 per year, depending on experience

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A valid NYS License as a Professional Engineer is required or should be obtainable through State reciprocity. THERE IS NO NYC RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR THESE POSITIONS

    WWTP Laboratory Director - Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant

    The Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant will be accepting applications for a WWTP Laboratory Director.

    Job duties include directing laboratory operations daily of analysis of water, biosolids, waste/wastewater. Assist in development, implementation, planning of safety/accident prevention program. Qualifications: Graduation accredited college or university with a baccalaureate in biology, chemistry or related field must include minimum of 18 credit hours in chemistry, 4 credit hours in microbiology and 3 years in the analysis of water, wastewater, in which 1 year of experience must have been in administration/compliance of a NELAC laboratory. Must posses and maintain certification as an Instructor of Basic First Aid and Cardio Resuscitation by the American Red Cross within 6 months of appointment. New York State Drivers License.
